Instructions for use: Empty 1 sachet into a glass of lukewarm water and stir with a teaspoon and drink before eating. Please put water on the kitchen counter the night before so that it reaches room temperature. We don't use any anti-caking agents to keep the product as clean as possible, so it may feel a little clumpy, but it clears up after 10 minutes.

When should I take OptiMSM®+C? OptiMSM®+C can be taken at any time during the day. However, we recommend taking it in the morning, preferably before breakfast, as vitamin C can be a bit invigorating for some. If you feel no effect after 1-2 weeks, you can increase to 2 bags per day. Take the second bag before lunch or dinner.

Side effects: A few may experience a looser stomach, slight nausea, joint pain at first. OptiMSM initiates the body's own detox system. It is not dangerous and disappears after a few days. WHAT DIFFERENTS OPTIMSM FROM OTHER AVAILABLE MSM ON THE MARKET?

OptiMSM is the purest and even GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) MSM (methylsulfonylmethane). Our MSM powder supplier is Bergstrom Nutrition, who use a proprietary multi-step distillation process, and each batch is third-party tested, ensuring optimal purity, quality and consistency. In contrast to OptiMSM, other commercially available MSMs use crystallization to isolate the MSM molecule. As this crystallized material cools, occlusions can develop that trap contaminants in the MSM and lead to material that may contain heavy metals, residual water, and other contaminants. Manufactured in a cGMP certified, ISO registered facility for an additional purpose to help provide traceability.

IS IT A NATURAL SOURCE OF MSM

MSM is a naturally occurring substance found in the human body and in many foods. The highest concentration of MSM in nature is found in the milk of mammals, but these sources contain MSM in very small amounts, making it impossible to isolate or cultivate.

Commercially available MSM does not come from wood, plants or fossil fuels. You cannot get MSM from a tree, extract it from plants, or extract it from petroleum or other fossil fuels. A chemical reaction is required to make MSM.

All commercially available MSM is synthetic and created through a chemical reaction of dimethyl sulfoxide (has a number of pharmacological effects, including against pain and inflammation) and hydrogen peroxide. Since all commercial MSM produced is from dimethyl sulfoxide and all commercial dimethyl sulfoxide is synthetic, the origin of dimethyl sulfoxide is immaterial. Dimethyl sulfoxide is produced using several starting materials: methanol and hydrogen sulfide, or methanol and carbon disulfide. Regardless of the starting material used, chemical reactions are required to produce dimethyl sulfoxide.

Manufacturer Bergstrom Nutrition's focus on purity sets OptiMSM® apart from other competitors. Bergstrom Nutrition pioneered the distillation process of MSM to ensure the highest purity and safety. Chemists and other experts believe that the multi-step distillation process used to purify OptiMSM is the superior method on the market. The end product is biomimetic, meaning it is the same as what is found in nature.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES IN CLEANSING MSM?

Commercial MSM is produced from a chemical reaction between dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). In the reaction, the hydrogen peroxide gives an available oxygen atom to DMSO and forms MSM, which is also called DMSO2, and water (DMSO + H2O2 = DMSO2 + H2O).

After the reaction is complete, the MSM must be separated from the water and other reaction byproducts. Separation is usually done by one of two different processes; either crystallization or distillation. Chemists consider distillation to be the superior separation method for purifying MSM and if performed correctly will consistently yield a product of 99.9% purity.

Crystallization separates the MSM from the water (solvent) by reducing the solubility of the MSM by cooling the solution. During crystal formation, occlusions, small pockets or defects form in the crystal that can trap impurities in the reaction mixture. These impurities can come from additional water added during the reaction phase, side reactions, the reactants themselves or the catalyst which usually contains a strong mineral acid. It is relevant to remember that one of the primary reactants is DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide). DMSO is a very strong industrial solvent, one of the few that can dissolve most epoxies. A technical bulletin from a major DMSO manufacturer states "DMSO, one of the strongest organic solvents, has been used commercially for over forty years. It is an effective solvent for a wide range of organic materials, including many polymers. DMSO also dissolves many inorganic substances. Salts, transition metal nitrates, cyanides and dichromates."

Distillation uses boiling point differences to separate MSM from the water and other impurities. Distillation is usually carried out using either multiple distillation columns or multiple distillation stages in a single column. Ultimately, the purified MSM above is vaporized and distilled, resulting in an extremely pure end product. Distillation is energy intensive and a more expensive separation technique, but it ensures a product that is virtually free of contamination regardless of the level of impurities in the reaction mixture.1 US-based Bergstrom Nutrition manufacturers of OptiMSM are the only MSM manufacturers that use distillation for purification.

These two separation processes will both yield MSM that is equally bioavailable. Many take relatively high doses, some reportedly as high as 6-15 grams per day. The highest level of purity is essential to ensure that the end user can achieve the desired therapeutic results without having to worry about potential health problems from trace impurities

WHY IS MSM SOMETIMES MARKETED AS ORGANIC SULFUR?

MSM is sometimes called "organic sulfur" because it is a carbonaceous molecule. Carbon-containing molecules are by definition organic substances.

However, this should not be confused with foods, plant products or herbal supplements marketed as certified organic (a very strict process), organic, 100% organic or made with organic ingredients. In these cases, Organic is a brand term that indicates that a food or an agricultural product has been produced according to approved methods. MSM is not and cannot be produced in a way that can be certified as organic.

WHAT DOES BIOMIMETIC MEAN?

Biomimetics refers to artificial processes, substances, devices or systems that imitate nature. Or another way of saying it is that the term refers to a compound that mimics a biological material in structure or function.

HOW DOES OPTIMSM WORK?

OptiMSM improves health in different ways. First, MSM is a proven source of bioavailable sulfur. Sulfur is important for several functions, including supporting connective tissue, skin health, detoxification, immunity and metabolism. MSM also reduces inflammation caused by stress, strenuous activity or toxins found in the daily environment. Finally, MSM protects the body against oxidative damage by increasing the body's natural antioxidant capacity so that it can neutralize harmful free radicals. The reduction of inflammation and oxidative stress protects joints, helps the body recover from strenuous activity, strengthens immunity and helps users stay active, live and age well.

WHAT IS OXIDATIVE STRESS AND INFLAMMATION? AND HOW DO THEY WORK TOGETHER?

Oxidative stress is an imbalance that occurs when the oxidative damage becomes too great for the body to remove or repair it effectively. Oxidative damage occurs when free radicals, usually reactive oxygen or nitrogen species, come into contact with parts of the cell such as proteins, lipids or DNA. The damaged cell parts cannot then function normally. Oxidative stress can be caused by excessive exercise, poor diet, toxins, UV light and many other factors. It is a normal process used for cell signaling, normal cell death, and to kill infectious pathogens. But when levels get too high, it causes permanent damage to cells and tissues. The body has innate processes to neutralize oxidation, but it can still be problematic if too much is created or if the body is not properly supported to deal with oxidative levels effectively. Inflammation is a response to some provocation that causes increased blood flow, increased capillary permeability and most importantly a white blood cell (or leukocyte) response. Symptoms of inflammation are redness, heat, swelling and pain. Inflammation is how the body reacts to infections, foreign substances or tissue damage. It is a natural process that helps protect the body. However, when inflammation becomes too extreme in one area, it can cause damage, or if chronic inflammation is not resolved, it can create harmful pathologies.

Inflammation and oxidative stress are closely related and in many ways are two sides of the same coin. They are inextricably linked because each can be induced by the other. Inflammatory cells release a variety of oxygen or nitrogen species at the site of inflammation, as a means of killing pathogens or signaling for further inflammation. Conversely, oxygen or nitrogen species induce intracellular signaling cascades that induce inflammatory responses. The complicated feedback loop between oxidation and inflammation needs balance to be effective without causing harm.

HOW LONG SHOULD I TAKE OPTIMSM BEFORE IT STARTS WORKING?

Studies have shown that MSM enters the bloodstream very quickly and starts working within 30-45 minutes. Most individuals will begin to notice the effects of MSM within two weeks of starting, but individual results may vary and are dependent on, among other things, dosage.

HOW MUCH OPTIMSM IS RECOMMENDED TO TAKE?

For maintenance of skin, hair, nails and joints or for recovery from exercise, 1-3 grams daily is recommended. For more urgent needs, 3-6 grams daily is recommended.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MSM AND GLUCOSAMINE? Chondroitin? WHY ARE THESE INGREDIENTS COMBINED?

Glucosamine and chondroitin are much larger, more complex molecules. MSM is a small, simple molecule that is essentially carbon-based organic sulfur.

Glucosamine and chondroitin are components, or building blocks, of normal cartilage. Glucosamine is a substance found naturally in the fluid that surrounds your joints; Chondroitin is found in the cartilage around your joints. Both substances play a role in keeping joints soft and lubricated. MSM is a sulfur compound and may provide anti-inflammatory benefits.

The synergistic effect of MSM with glucosamine and chondroitin has been demonstrated in clinical studies. MSM can help reduce inflammation and improve cell permeability, allowing the body to better utilize these two important molecules.

Start a health-promoting and active lifestyle with Blueberry-flavored OptiMSM+C

We have created a powerful recipe with OptiMSM® with vitamin C and added antioxidant-rich wild Nordic blueberries, which provide the body with organic sulphur, which is the body's fourth most important mineral. MSM is important for maintaining healthy joints, tendons, ligaments, connective tissue and more. We use patented OptiMSM® which is the world's purest (99.9%) and most effective MSM. OptiMSM® has made a big difference for many individuals for over 30 years and has 19 clinical studies behind it that show a great effect on joints, skin and immune system.

Basically all cells in humans and animals contain organic sulfur, and about fifty percent of the sulfur found in the body is found in bones, skin, and muscles.

Natural sources of sulfur can be found in, for example, milk, meat, fish, fruit, vegetables and more. Just like other minerals and vitamins, it is excreted by the body and must be constantly replenished. A large part of natural MSM loses much of its power at too high a temperature, for example when cooking food. The MSM content in the body decreases with age and must be replenished. Sulfur is found naturally in many foods, especially those rich in protein. Unpasteurized milk, meat, fish and several different fruits, vegetables and grains.

MSM has a crucial function for skin, muscles and joints

When it comes to optimal health and vitality, many people forget the importance of MSM (methylsulfonylmethane). But this powerful mineral plays a critical role in supporting the structure and function of the body's tissues, including skin, muscles and joints. MSM is a natural source of sulfur, which is an important mineral for maintaining the integrity of connective tissue. It is particularly important for collagen production, which helps keep the skin healthy and youthful. In addition to that, MSM is also good for maintaining the immune system and reducing inflammation. This makes it an excellent choice for those who want a natural way to maintain optimal health as they age.

Never without C?

To get the maximum benefit from the MSM supplement, it is important to take it with vitamin C. Vitamin C is important for collagen synthesis and, together with MSM, forms a powerful support for healthy connective tissue. MSM with C is an all-natural way to support your body's tissues and promote optimal health as you age.

Different areas where MSM has a positive impact

Various studies suggest that the use of MSM can reduce pain and stiffness in osteoarthritis. In one of these studies, there was talk of less pain, stiffness and an improved function in joints. Quality of life also improved according to the study. No side effects were reported.

MSM also works indirectly as an antidepressant as the brain is supported to produce different signaling substances such as dopamine, serotonin and acetylcholine. The result is that we feel more energetic and more harmonious. Without boring side effects.

Studies further point to significant improvements in wrinkles, firmness, hydration and elasticity in the skin when taking MSM.
